Summer 2015 – Upcoming Trip

This summer we will be returning to Ukraine for a few weeks - check back later this summer for update and photos

      

Main Purposes of the Trip:

•   Check in on several of the young men we have been involved with over the past few years
•   Check in on and spend some time with a local family we know that has just lost their husband/father  
•  Check in on and offer some support to a struggling young family as they welcome a new baby into their home and family around or during the time of our visit
•  Reconnect with some local churches/congregations we have made connections with
•  Teach at some weeknight church Bible studies for young people
•  Reconnect with many of the local people, including many young people who are looking forward to an American Kickball game!
•  Discuss possible future short and long–term ministry ideas and logistics involved with our possible return to Ukraine for another extended stay.

Ways you can help: 

Besides financial contributions towards the obvious costs involved with traveling to Ukraine, there are some supplies that are helpful to us and this ministry and would be welcome contributions.

• An acoustic guitar and/or acoustic bass guitar in good condition that could be left in Ukraine so we would have one or two less bulky items to carry back and forth on the planes and trains on future trips.
• Diapers of various sizes including plenty of newborn
• New or used clothing in very good condition.  Mostly children’s sizes, but smaller sized adult clothing is also useful
•  Money to purchase The Jesus Storybook Bibles in Russian and/or Ukrainian language

Fund raising is still a bit of an awkward part of our involvement with overseas missions work.  To ask or not to ask, that is the question (or at least one of them!)  Lately, we have been taking a little different approach towards this end.  Rather than sending out letters asking for support, when we believe God has provided us a reason, time and resources to travel to Ukraine we have begun planning it with or without support and we have always ended up having what we needed to cover the costs.  Some of these funds have been donated and some have been our own funds.  This is how we are approaching our trip this summer.  We are a planning to go and are willing to cover the total cost if necessary, but are also open to receiving help if people choose to contribute.
